The Car
4628 began its life as a 2004 V8 Toyota 4Runner Limited that was picked up from a salvage auction. We knew we wanted to select something from within the Toyota family due to their notable reliability, but beyond that anything was fair game. We chose the 4th generation Toyota 4 Runner for its suspension configuration and its V8 power plant.
Suspension
Independent Front Suspension (IFS) is not something that is regularly seen within the stock class up until this 2018. One other race team has been racing an IFS Toyota and it has gained considerable traction within Ultra4. The larger 4400 Unlimited Class cars have been using the advantages of IFS with coilovers to continuously win races. We hope to bring this same winning streak to the stock class.
Marketing
This vehicle presents a unique opportunity for our marketing partners to reach two very unique communities. This 4Runner connects with the overlanding community, that has exploded in the last couple of years, and those looking to convert their vehicle for more extreme use. As the overlanding community has grown, so have the products being used. The industry standard has now become racing shocks on daily drivers. Even though they aren’t used with the same level of demand as a full on race car, people still want the reliability and performance that goes along with them.
We have gone to great lengths to work with companies that we believe provide some of the best products for the consumer off-road industry who need a test bed to prove what their equipment is capable of. If you are interested in working with us, please contact us here.
